14 months

She says new words all of the time, although once we hear them, we are never quite sure when we will hear them again! The other day Jay was leaving for work, and after he was out the door, driving away, she said "Bye Da!" She also occasionally says her version of "Thank you" which sounds more like "Dank ou." If you ask her, "Where is Raegan?" she points to herself! Her new signs are boat and fish, and the new language that she understands is too much to list! She follows lots of instructions and knows a lot of labels of items all around the house. She is mommy's little helper when she puts her dirty clothes in the laundry room, and throws things in the trash when I ask her. I think she has grown more adamant about what she wants, when she wants it. So EVERYONE in the house is learning a new level of patience! :) She has recently decided she doesn't want to sleep anywhere except in Mommy or Daddy's arms, and her crib is some terribly awful place. I hope hope hope that this is a phase that will pass quickly. Since we are once again without a nanny, my niece Carlee has been staying with Raegan during the day while I work. It is really nice to be able to have Raegan stay with family for a change. Carlee is very good with her!

She still wants to go outside about 50 million times a day. This last weekend, she has figured out she can go over to Matt and indicate to be picked up. Once he picks her up, she insists that he take her outside. Since he doesn't want her to be sad, he almost always does it. She gave him a big hug before he left this morning, it was super sweet. She LOVES big brother! Even though she doesn't get to see him all that much, it is really amazing to see how she is completely different and so comfortable with him, than with anyone else. She knows he is big brother!

I bought her another pair of summer sandals today, and she was reluctant to let me put them on her at first. Then, once she had them on she was so excited! She went to the oven in the kitchen so she could see her reflection with the shoes on, and then she would look up and smile so big at Jasen and I. She wore the shoes the rest of the night, stopping to look down at them and admire them, and then cried when we had to take them off to take a bath. She is also now trying to dress herself, but with her arm going through the head hole of the shirt, I have to help her and she wants nothing to do with that. She wants to do it herself!

Although Jasen and I both admit that it takes a lot of energy to raise a toddler, we are enjoying her immensely!

Happy 14 months, Raegan!

Summer updates

We have had a few new happenings that have kept us quite busy! First, Raegan was sick for a week with Roseola. It is a very common childhood virus, which is characteristic of high fevers and then a rash once the fever breaks. Having a sick child is the worst thing ever! Also, with Roseola, there is no way to diagnose it until the fever breaks, leaving the child with a rash. So in the mean time, we had to visit the Doctor to rule out other causes, since a high fever for several days can be a cause for concern. At any rate, she's back to her normal teeth cutting, runny nose self. Which is to say that I really detest teething! Why couldn't they just be born with all of their teeth! I vote for that! ;)

We also just bought a new (new to us) boat. We have taken it out every weekend since, and we are all really enjoying it! Raegan loves to get in the lake, and she has the biggest smile on her face when we drive the boat around the lake. She made up her own sign for boat, which is touching the top of her head with her hand. She asks for the boat daily!

Father's day was fun too! We celebrated with a big breakfast in the morning (which Matt and I cooked together), and then I made Jasen a super special Mint Chocolate Chip- Chocolate cake (with a chocolate ganache). It was amazing! (If I do say so myself!).

Also, just wanted to give a quick shout out to Meg for graduating with her Master's degree this last weekend! Yay Meg!! :)
