Actually, two birthdays: Ashley and Katie's! :) There are A LOT of birthdays in our friend and family circle this time of year....so brace yourself, this is just the beginning of what will be many birthday posts! For those of you who don't know, I met Katie at work....she and her husband are native midwesterners as well- Michigan! Katie teaches a kindergarten class for children primarily diagnosed with autism. She is one of the most incredible teachers I have ever worked with! Ashley is from Canada, but her and her husband live together in California. I met Ashley at work as well....she was the speech therapist for Katie's classroom. Ashley now works in another school district, which is sad since she is one of the best speech therapists I have ever worked with! Yes, we were quite the team! :)

So, to celebrate these amazing women, Katie's husband planned a wine tour that ended with a lovely dinner reservation at a nice restaurant in a town whose name currently escapes me. We went to several wineries (the exact number also escapes me), one of which was an amazing castle....Castille de something blabidity bloo. I think that my memory problems are more a result of my aging (I am turning thirty in a few weeks) rather than a result of the scrumptious wine that I was drinking. :) Anyway, we also packed a bit of a picnic and sat outside drinking wine and eating, all while enjoying the wonderful spring weather! It was sunny and in the 70s...man I love California! Meghan joined us, which was great since we hadn't seen her in quite some time. Napa is about the half way point between Meg's house and our house. How convenient!! Meg and I stocked up on our favorite wine that you can only buy from a winery name Peju. The wine is a fruity light white wine, Carnival.....said with a french accent! It is delicious! We had such a wonderful day....it was so relaxing and fun to be surrounded by beautiful scenery and good friends!

Happy Birthday Katie and Ashley!

Yay!!! What a fun day. The castle was cool but you can't beat Peju in the wine department...hmmmm I want a glass right now.
P.S We ate at Rutherford grill up toward Calistoga.
Oh and thank you for the compliment! You taught me everything I know.
