"Look at her doing squats!"
"She looks like a toddler!"
"Her hair is really filling out and getting long."
"She loves giving kisses to everything!"
"Cute little hair curl."
She is becoming more stable on her feet and is very fast at crawling. She seems to understand a lot of cause and effect, and she is playing with her toys in new, creative ways. She has decided she no longer wants to sleep in bed with mommy and daddy, so although she doesn't sleep all night, she does exclusively sleep in her crib. We had to lower the crib to the lowest setting since she wants to stand up in it now.
We offer her a variety of food at least once a day. Only whole food that she can feed herself. She does NOT want to be fed. I have also read some research to support the idea of giving babies a variety of food and letting them select what to eat, while being impartial and neutral about how much or what they choose to eat. Of course, the choices are only healthy...fruits, vegetables, meats, and some very limited starches (potato, rice). She particularly enjoys "eating" when the family is eating. She isn't really consuming very large quantities yet, maybe only a few bites here and there.
One of her favorite toys is a vtech toy that Grandma Shari bought her for Christmas. She loves sitting on it, pulling up on it, doing squats while holding onto it, and playing with the blocks. It is not a toy I would have necessarily ever selected for her, but it has really been fantastic! We love it! It is so versatile that Raegan has many different uses for it. I also think that it is really helping her develop her motor skills. Highly recommended!! Here is a link to one on amazon for any interested parents out there! http://www.amazon.com/Vtech-Sit-Stand-Alphabet-Train/dp/B0015399MG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329883018&sr=8-1
Looking forward to planning her very first birthday party! Any ideas or suggestions?? :)
